Co-op Information

  • The CHIME Educational Co-operative meets for six weeks each fall and spring. Classroom space is provided by the First Clagary Baptist Church in North Andover. All are encouraged to meet for 9 AM Mass and rosary at St Michael’s in North Andover, prior to the beginning of class. After the teaching has been done, we gather for lunch at noon, praying the Angelus as a community. When lunch is finished, the children go out for good ol’ fashioned recess. An average of twenty plus CHIME families join us for CO-OP season, sharing the teaching and supervising of some 50 plus children in classes which range from topics in science, history, literature, and math. Classes tend to be focused on a unit study approach, where group activities and hands on learning play a central role.

  • The exciting classes we offer represent only a small part of what we seek through our CO-OP days. Our main purpose is to build a Catholic homeschool community. We gather for Mass, children lead the rosary, we gather for the Angelus, and pray Grace together before lunch. Play is also an important part of the day, fostering friendships and fellowship. Younger children have two recess periods and families stay and play in the afternoon in nice weather. All classes and activities provided by the CO-OP are provided by the families involved. All parents contribute to the effective and efficient running of the CO-OP. We spread out the duties, both educationally and administratively, fairly and broadly, which enables most parents to provide maximum of two weeks teaching commitment each term.
